Fright Night Archives - Fright Night 1

Fright Night, a single night horror roleplaying convention, took place for the first time on October 27th, 2007 at Turnbull House in Wellington.

The Games included:

ROUND ONE

Game Title:
The Infected
Facilitator: "Zombie Master" Mike Sands
System: The Infected by Eric Provost
Round: 1
Players: 4
Game Blurb:
This system is designed for one-shot games of horror games in the style of zombie movies, and anything else where anyone could turn into (or be) the monsters (e.g. werewolves, vampires, body snatchers).

I'll be running it in fairly basic Romero/Shaun of the Dead style, unless popular vote on the night is for something different to zombies. This is an unpublished game, running from the playtest ashcan, so some areas may be unpolished and I'll gather your feedback for the author afterwards

System Knowledge: None Needed
Energy Volume: Loud and Crazy
Style: Lots of player input. Many details will be made up on the fly. A few of you will end up as monsters and trying to eat the others (or maybe just the people they care about.

That is... until it stirs...

Newsreel Script TV1, 6PM, July 1977: ... local man Tane Mikohick said in a statment today that the scene was "like no other I have ever see eh Boss, there were just parts everywhere eh, and the fish... I've never seen them like that eh Boss". It was a scene of carnage, chaos and tragedy this weekend at the small town of Karamia and one thing stands out as a ray of hope for this small lakeside town, and thats the heroric acts of Tane Mikohick... More on this breaking story later in the show... ** Static...**

When a high school student on a camping trip falls victim to a nocturnal hunter in a vicious and merciless attack, his fellow students are alarmed and upset. What kind of predator would attack a human being, a fit young man in his prime -- and seemingly for pleasure? And will it attack again?

Wrong questions.

Because there are hunters more vicious and merciless still. And they're the ones you *really* have to worry about.

Round: 2

For the past month the Victorian city of London has been plagued by a series of gruesome murders. The victims are bankers, industrialists, scholars and the lower echelons of the nobility: the pillars of the community. All of the victims are members of the exclusive Gentleman's Club Witherton's, and all connected by their conspicuous philanthropy towards the poor and displaced of London and Ireland's slums. Only 6 members of the club remain, and all have gone into hiding, praying to God that their life be spared.

As the police close in on the killers, you ask yourself whether your associates did the right thing: what did they find out before disappearing? You ask how far you will go if they are caught. Would you burn in hell in order to stop hell on earth? Is it already too late?

Game Blurb:
Area 51, Groomlake or the Deadlands. Call it what you want, for the soldiers of the 8th Recon and Border unit it's just plain old Air Force Test Centre, Detachment 3. Here the day is just like any other Air Force Base, the same old food, the same old bunk beds, and the same old dull border security patrols.

Still, the buzz has it that something big is on it' way, perhaps another oneof those hybrid jetsor advanced Space Defence Initiative probes. Whatever it is, it's probably just as likely to be as boring as it was last week...

Or will it?
